Chemical Peel Post-Care Instructions
Following your chemical peel treatment, it is imperative to adhere to the following instructions for optimal healing and to minimize potential complications.
Immediately After Treatment:
You may experience mild to moderate redness, swelling, irritation, itching, tightness, and a sunburn-like sensation.
Do not scratch, pick, or peel the skin at any time.
Avoid direct sun exposure. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher as directed.
Use Sheald Recovery Balm as recommended to support healing and maintain hydration.
First 24 Hours:
Do not apply makeup or any products other than those recommended by your provider.
Avoid hot water, steam, saunas, or excessive heat exposure.
Refrain from vigorous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating.
Sleep with your head elevated to minimize swelling.
What to Expect After Treatment
Day 1:
Redness, tightness, irritation, and mild swelling are common.
The skin may feel warm and sensitive to the touch.
Days 2–6:
Peeling typically begins and may increase during this period.
Flaking skin will shed naturally. Do not pull or remove peeling skin.
Redness may be visible underneath the peeling.
Itching and tightness may continue.
Strict sun avoidance and daily SPF application are essential.
Beginning Day 7:
Peeling should begin to subside, though mild flaking may persist for up to 10 days.
The skin remains sensitive, particularly to sun and heat exposure.
Visible improvements may begin to appear as healing continues.
