Neurotoxin Post-Care Instructions

Following your neurotoxin treatment, please follow the guidelines below to support optimal results and minimize potential side effects.

Immediately After Treatment:

Avoid lying flat or on one side for at least four hours after treatment. Do not massage the treated areas for two weeks while the neurotoxin is taking effect. Avoid gua sha, jade rollers, facials, or anything that applies pressure to the skin. You may use ice on any bruising or soreness as needed, applying it gently for ten minutes at a time. Headaches are a common side effect and Tylenol may be used for discomfort. Avoid NSAIDs.

Avoid hot environments for the first few hours, including cooking over a hot stove or taking a hot shower. Do not apply makeup for the rest of the day or for at least four hours after treatment. Refrain from exercising for twenty-four hours.

Bruising and Supplements

You may use topical or oral Arnica to help with bruising. Refrain from consuming NSAIDs such as Motrin, Aleve, or aspirin, as well as alcohol or large amounts of caffeine, for two days before and one day after treatment. Avoid Vitamin E, Gingko Biloba, and Ginseng supplements for at least forty-eight hours, since they can increase the likelihood of bruising.

Activity and Skin Care

Avoid facials, lasers, saunas, or microneedling for two weeks after treatment. Immunizations two weeks before or after treatment may affect the effectiveness of neurotoxin. Move your facial muscles to help the medication take effect and bind within the muscle.

When to Expect Results

Neurotoxin can take up to fourteen days to fully activate. One area may kick in sooner than another. Allow the full two weeks for any asymmetry to settle. Results typically last three to four months and retreatment before then is not possible.

Follow-Up

Return for a follow-up appointment in two weeks. Any adjustments can be made at that visit, but not before two weeks and not after one month.

Feel free to call or text with any questions or concerns after your appointment. Responses may take up to twenty-four hours if it is not an emergency.
