Hyaluronic Acid Filler Post-Care Instructions
Following your dermal filler treatment, please follow the guidelines below to support optimal healing and minimize potential complications.
Immediately After Treatment:
Contact your injector immediately if you experience prolonged numbness, blanching or white patches on the skin, coolness or pain upon touch, abnormal discoloration, or the presence of pustules, vesicles, or bumps. Avoid consuming NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, naproxen, or aspirin, as well as alcohol or excessive caffeine intake, for two days before and after treatment to help minimize bruising. You may use oral or topical Arnica to reduce bruising, and oral bromelain or pineapple may help decrease swelling.
Avoid Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, and Ginseng supplements for forty-eight hours before and after treatment. Refrain from strenuous exercise for forty-eight hours. Avoid immunizations for two weeks before or after treatment. Do not apply makeup for the rest of the day or for at least four hours after your appointment. If needed, gently apply ice to bruised or sore areas for up to ten minutes at a time without applying firm pressure or prolonged icing sessions.
Follow-Up and Communication
Schedule a follow-up appointment in two weeks for potential adjustments, once swelling or bruising has settled.
Feel free to call or text with any questions or concerns after treatment. Responses may take up to twenty-four hours if it is not an emergency.
What to Watch For
Although complications are rare, it is important to be aware of symptoms that require immediate attention. Contact us promptly if you experience any of the following:
• Signs of a blocked blood vessel such as blanching, severe pain, coolness, tingling, or pustules in the treated area
• Fever or chills
• Discolored blotches in areas not treated
In urgent situations, an antidote can be administered to dissolve hyaluronic acid filler and address potential blockages. If assistance is needed outside office hours, contact your physician or visit the nearest emergency department.
